So this is me.

This is my room. I basically plaster the walls with anything I think looks cool.

Thats Lauren, chillin on my bed. The map behind her is of Namibia. I got it almost 3 years ago when I went to visit my Aunt who works with the peace corps.

I LOVE this bag. Its crocheted from other plastic bags. I didn't make it-- this woman I babysit for's mom did. Whenever I use it, I get on average about 3 comment/compliments (per day). One guy on the metro said he liked it, and he was really into the "green" movement. Its kind of amazing how fashion can make such a strong statement without text or graphics.

This is a wallet made by a kid from my art class.

So thats probably given you an idea of my "aesthetic".
(Four years of being in an intense art program, all that artistic vocabulary's finally gone to my head)

And also, happy day-after MLK Jr. day!

"Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land. And I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord."

--- MLK Jr's last speech, given in Memphis Tennessee the day before he was assassinated. Did you know he gave it without any notes, or prepping of any kind? All of this was just off the top of his head. Its sort of surreal-- almost as if he knew what was going to happen to him.
I was listening to this on NPR last night and felt a huge wave of gratitude for him. What a fabulous person.
